Mazen Hamza CMA, RSME/T

Mazen was born in the beautiful country of Lebanon, but has soon moved to America at the age of 4 to escape the civil war.

As a young child he showed many signs of talent in arts, like pottery and singing. He also trained in martial arts.

Mazen attended the Univeristy of Austin, where he majored in English and Pre Med, yet his passion for the arts lead him to discover dancing. He began his dancing journey in the collegiate team at UT Austin and the reason for signing up were… the girls. After graduating with BA in English he shifted his focus to ballroom dancing.

It has been close to 30 years since he has began his dancing journey. Starting his professional competitive career later than most would, he always felt he had a lot of catching up to do. That has always been his main driver and motivator. With his work ethic and strong will he has become one of the top dancers in the nation. Sympathizing with those who desire to reach their potential he was able to develop a system of teaching that helps anyone at any age discover their potential and reach their goals.

His dance training consists of American Smooth, International Standard and International Latin. It was the American Smooth style of dance that stole his heart and became his life long passion.

Mazen has been a finalist in the Professional American Smooth for 13 years in a row with 4 different partners, which is a nobale achievement. He was ranked 2nd in the Nation and in the World for 6 years.

His best and most rewarding achievement was winning the World Professional Smooth Showdance competition at the Ohio Star Ball in 2007.

His love for the industry and American Smooth itself left a mark in the history of development of this style. The unique style of dance he portrayed has influenced this division and his longevity in this style has made him one of the icons of the American Smooth.

After his retirement from professional competitive dancing in 2016 he has devoted his time judging and to teaching. He has become a coach to the new generation of professional and amateur dancers and continues on training and competing in the Pro/Am division.

He is currently continuing his education in areas of psychology, conversation as well as Alexander Technique.

In 2023 Mazen graduated from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement in NYC earning himself a title of Certified Movement Analyst and Registered Somatic Movement Educator & Therapist.
